For Kym, the work is physical, precise and full of quiet satisfaction. No two coopers work in exactly the same way. The way a barrel is bent, the way it is toasted and the decisions made by hand all leave their mark. 
The barrel is not the final product, but it helps shape what the wine will become. It carries patience, tradition and a close relationship with the winemakers who use it.
In a region known for great wine, this is just one story about the craft behind it. A reminder that Barossa’s heritage is not only preserved in cellars or old vines, but in the people who keep making, repairing and carrying knowledge forward.
